Browser Extension Privacy
Last updated: 21 July 2026
This page supplements the main Privacy Policy for the MyAccentApp browser extension.
Permissions we use
- Active tab / content scripts on YouTube and Netflix — to detect caption text you select or that is on-screen so you can loop and practise it.
- Microphone — only when you start a recording in the extension panel.
- Storage — to save your API token and default accent locally in the browser.
What leaves your device
- When you analyse a recording, audio + target text + accent are sent to
myaccentapp.comAPIs, authenticated with your personal API token. - We do not scrape your full viewing history. We only use the text you choose to practise.
- The extension does not inject ads or sell browsing data.
Tokens
Create and revoke tokens on your Account page. Treat a token like a password; revoke it if a device is lost.
Single purpose
The extension’s single purpose is helping you practise English pronunciation from video captions. It is not used for unrelated data collection.
