How scoring works

We score each attempt on four bands, each 0–100, then map to the official ~0–4 (TOEFL) or ~0–9 (IELTS) band scale:

  • Pronunciation — uses our existing accent analysis (Whisper + phoneme scoring).
  • Fluency — pacing, hesitation, use of full speaking time.
  • Vocabulary — range and accuracy.
  • Grammar — accuracy and complexity.
